AFA Mourns the Loss of Past President, Bill Dobson

The Alberta Federation of Agriculture (AFA) is sad to learn of the recent and sudden passing of past president and long-standing member, Bill Dobson.

“Bill served our organization and Alberta farmers with a tremendous sense of grace, vision and leadership,” noted Lynn Jacobson, President of AFA.   “He was a true champion for this industry and understood the important role general farm organizations play.  We will miss him dearly.”

Bill served many years on the board of AFA when it was still known as the Wild Rose Agricultural Producers, confidently stepping into the role of President and offering his strong leadership skills from 2004-2007.  Through his work with our organization, he came to serve a number of other boards and organizations, including the Canadian Federation of Agriculture and The Co-operators.

“Bill was a compassionate gentleman who worked tirelessly for all the farmers in Alberta,” said Rod Scarlett, former Executive Director of the Wild Rose Agricultural Producers.  “His enthusiasm was infectious, his leadership contagious, and he was a respected friend to all.”

AFA offers its condolences to the entire Dobson family at this difficult time and thanks them for sharing Bill with all of us for so many years.  A Memorial Service for Bill will be conducted from the Paradise Valley School, Paradise Valley, AB on Monday, April 9, 2018 at 1:00 PM.

Donations in memory of Bill may be made to the Climb Through Time Museum or Canadian Diabetes Association.
